EQUIPMENT USED BY MEMBERS OF THE NORTH COLLEGE HILL POLICE DEPARTMENT

SIGARMS P226 & P229 PISTOLS

These are the standard sidearms of the officers. The P226 is the pistol that set the standard by which all other combat handguns are measured. In use by the US Navy SEALs, Federal agents, and numerous law enforcement agencies including the Texas Rangers, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Michigan State Police to name a few; the P226 has continually proven itself. The P226's exceptional ergonomics and balance make this high capacity full-size pistol easy to fire. The P229 is identical to the P226 but has a slightly smaller grip dimension and barrel length.

MODEL 7290 FLASH BANG

The Model 7290 Flash Bang, (diversionary device) produces an explosive report and a brilliant flash. Energy is released radially and equally through top and base ports at an angle of 15° off the vertical axis. The balanced output ensures that the device does not become a dangerous projectile. It remains intact and is disposable after use. This device is used by department members and especially High Risk Warrant Team Members during execution of tactical entries.

Speed Monitoring Awareness Radar Trailer

Neighborhoods, school zones, construction sites and dangerous roads could use a little help in promoting compliance with the speed limit. But officers can't be everywhere at once. That's where the department’s radar trailer comes in.
These trailers assist the department by creating a presence, sending a “Slow Down” message to drivers increasing voluntary compliance with speed limits. It is a portable, self-contained speed display unit that is towed from site to site to assist in areas with speed-related problems.

LASERTECH ULTRALYTE 2000

This is one of several speed measuring devices used by the patrol section. This LIDAR (Light Distance and Ranging) unit emits a laser beam to check for speed violations with a range capability of over 2000 feet.

MOTOROLA XTS 5000

The new top-of-the-line Motorola XTS 5000 portable radio is ready and equipped to meet the needs of demanding environments. The most interoperable radio of its class, the XTS 5000 radio is an incredibly versatile Public Safety portable designed for mission-critical APCO Project 25 users. It's Motorola's newest maximum performance two-way radio that is equipped to meet your demands as well as provide a peace of mind with secure communications.

M26 Taser

This sonic welded, impact resistant less lethal device is a conducted energy weapon that delivers 50,000 volts to subdue subjects without causing injuries and is one of several less-lethal devices used by the department.

AR15 POLICE CARBINE

This rifle, in several of its many configurations, is used by the patrol section and is one of the primary weapons of members of the department’s High Risk Warrant Team.

Heckler & Koch UMP-40

The H&K UMP-40 Sub machine gun is one of the primary weapons of the department’s High Risk Warrant Team.
The weapon features a straight blowback design that fires from a closed bolt for excellent first shot accuracy. The gun has an ambidextrous trigger group featuring safe-semi-full automatic fire.
One of the greatest features of the largely polymer design is the weight, or lack of it. The UMP only weighs 4.63 pounds empty!

REMINGTON 870 SHOTGUN

A highly durable 12-gauge utility gun for general law enforcement purposes.

PEPPERBALL SA200

The PepperBall SA200 is a unique less-lethal device which combines multiple effects to subdue subjects without permanent injuries or death. Since late 1999, PepperBall has been deployed in thousands of situations around the globe, successfully filling a gap in the use of force continuum where no other tools were available.

The PepperBall® system consists of a PepperBall® launcher and PepperBall® projectiles. The launcher is a semi-automatic high-pressure air delivery system. PepperBall® projectiles are hard plastic spheres built to burst on impact. The red, or live projectiles, are the foundation of the system and are filled with enough PAVA (Capsaicin II) powder to irritate a suspect's eyes, nose and throat. As such, the PepperBall® system combines a unique kinetic impact technology with pepper powder irritant as a less-lethal deployment device for peace officers. The combination of these effects is called ChemneticsTM . It is the Chemnetics of the PepperBall® projectiles that make this an effective tool.

EXPANDABLE BATON

The famed ASP telescoping Baton provides both the plainclothes and uniformed professional with a compact, inconspicuous, yet devastatingly effective impact instrument. The ASP expandable batons offer the concealability, convenience and low profile image of a billy with the reach, controllability, and tactical superiority of a full size baton.

Power Heart 9200RD-001 Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Since 2003, trained North College Hill police officers have been carrying a new piece of life-saving equipment - Power Heart 9200RD-001 Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The defibrillators, which the officers have with them in their police cars, will be used to "jump start" someone's heart in the event of cardiac arrest.
