Programs that the Police Department offers:
Crime Prevention Services - Available to its
residents and its businesses. Any citizen, business, or group who
wishes to have a police officer speak to their group or have a security
assessment of their home or business please call the PD Monday through
Friday from 8:00AM to 4:00PM and ask for our Crime Prevention Officer
PO Jan Apro. He will be more than happy to set up an assessment
or a seminar or meeting to assist you.
Block Watch Program - This program is designed
for resident volunteers to report suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
Project Home Safe - This program has become a county-wide
program with the assistance from the Regional Crime Information
Center (RCIC). It allows guardians and caretakers of family or friends
with Alzheimers or who may be MRDD to register the loved one with
the Police Department and the information will be listed on the
RCIC database. Should the person become lost and separated or walk
away, police in Hamilton County can more readily access the needed
information to return the person home.
Safe House Project - This program allows specially
trained volunteers to open their houses to children who may become
lost, accosted, bullied or scared. The volunteer will arrange to
get the child home safe by contacting loved ones or contacting the
Police Department should any criminal activity be present.
Citizens on Patrol - A program designed mainly
for Citizen Police Academy alumni who are trained and patrol the
community on foot and in privately owned vehicles. When they observe
suspicious activity they contact the police by cell phone or radio.
SPEARS Program - Allows elderly residents or other
citizens who qualify to register their homes along with keys with
the Police Department should there be a medical emergency. Details
on quailfying and how the program operates can be obtained from
the Police Department.
